The Career
Medical Coding and Billing Specialists play an important role in the financial stability of healthcare organizations. Specialists convert medical diagnoses and procedures into numeric codes which are then submitted for claims processing and reimbursement. Codes are assigned and submitted consistent with regulatory and ethical standards. With the growth in the healthcare industry as well as major changes to the industry, medical coding professionals are in demand.
The Program
Dunwoody’s Medical Coding and Billing Diploma Program will provide graduates with a solid medical and regulatory foundation enabling them to assign codes accurately and to submit claims in compliance with regulatory standards. The program will include a clinical experience in acute care as well as other healthcare venues.
Graduates of the program will be able to sit for coding certification examinations through either the American Health Information Management Association or the American Academy of Professional Coders.
