The Career
Twenty-first century graphic communications is a dynamic combination
of creativity, high-tech advances and manufacturing ingenuity, leading
to a variety of exciting career opportunities. Digital documents and printon-demand are growing exponentially. Flexible packaging printing —
flexography — continues to outperform all other market segments in terms
of profitability, resulting in impressive growth and high wage employment
opportunities — and Dunwoody’s flexography program is regularly
recognized as one of the best in the nation.
The Program
The technical course work includes a one-quarter comprehensive
introduction to the entire industry, four intensive quarters of a chosen
specialty, and a final quarter spent on an internship or a targeted capstone
independent study. Students may specialize in Pre-Press/Digital Imaging
(PREP) or Press and Finishing (PRES). Prominent companies conduct
cutting-edge R&D on site, give product demonstrations, and advise our
instructors on new products. In turn, Dunwoody provides our students with
their first professional networking opportunities and places graduates in
paid internships.
Program Length
Graduates of this six-quarter program earn a diploma or an Associate of
Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree, depending on the number of Arts and
Sciences courses completed. Students with previous training or experience
in the occupation may arrange to take selected courses in the program.
