Work Study Positions

In addition to the qualifications listed for each position, Dunwoody Work Study positions require current enrollment in the College and the completion of the Annual Work Study Employment Agreement. To determine your eligiblity for work study, meet with Financial Aid.

Dunwoody College of Technology currently has the following open positions

Automation/Robotics Student Helper for Manufacturing

Approximate Hours per Week: 12-20
Wage: $10
Number of Openings: 1

Primary Duties

  • Student helper will be wiring electrical, sensors,
  • PLC, and servo job boards and Pneumatic Trainers.
  • Reworking basic electricity job boards, cataloging and inventorying donations.
  • Cleaning lab facility

Qualifications

  • Must understand basic electrical wiring and components,            
  • must be able to read a schematic,
  • must be familiar with electronic sensors or currently enrolled in the Sensors class,
  • must be able to use basic machining equipment, such as mill, drill press, lathe,
  • having some AutoCAD and Solidworks is a plus.

Student Application Steps and Contact Information

  1. Meet with the Financial Aid office to determine if you are eligible for work-study.  If you are eligible, you will be awarded an annual work study agreement.
  2. Meet with Jeff Johnson in Human Resources to fill out an Application and a Disclosure & Release of Information Authorization.
  3. Contact Jeff Bixby at jbixby@dunwoody.edu and let him know you would like to schedule an interview for the work study position.
  4. Interview with the hiring manager at scheduled time. 
  5. If offered the position, set up a meeting with Jeff Johnson in HR at jjohnson@dunwoody.edu . Once a meeting is scheduled you must bring the following identification along to this meeting:  a passport OR a driver’s license and a social security card OR a driver’s license and an original birth certificate to demonstrate you are eligible to work in the United States.  If you want to set up Direct Deposit, please also bring a voided check.
  6. You will receive an email from HR upon completion of the new hire paperwork process indicating clearance to begin working.

Tutor/Faculty Assistant for Architectural Drafting and Estimating Technology

Approximate Hours per Week: 20
Wage: $10
Number of Openings: 1

Primary Duties

  • Primary Duties:
    • Tutoring
    • Faculty Support
  • Secondary Duties
    • Creating copies, filing, typing and other miscellaneous tasks
    • Classroom support (resources organization, cleaning, paper stocking, plotter preparation)
    • Open Houses support (typically 5-8pm 1 time per month)

Qualifications

  1. 3.0 GPA minimum
  2. Software skills: MS Office- including MS Project, REVIT, Timberline (helpful), Sketch-up (helpful), AutoCAD (helpful)
  3. Available to work from 2:30-4:30 Monday - Friday
  4. Excellent organization and note taking skills
  5. Excellent communication skills (willing to initiate communications with faculty)
  6. Supportive attitude and approachable demeanor
  7. Produce individual work in a collaborative work environment
