Work Study Positions

In addition to the qualifications listed for each position, Dunwoody Work Study positions require current enrollment in the College and the completion of the Annual Work Study Employment Agreement. To determine your eligiblity for work study, meet with Financial Aid.

Dunwoody College of Technology currently has the following open work study positions.

 

Construction Sciences & Building Technology Faculty Assistant (summer position)
Approximate Hours per Week: 40 summer
Wage: $10
Number of Openings: 1

The Construction Science & Building Technology Dean’s Office has 1 position available for a student worker to assist the Dean this summer. Preferred applicants will be a 2nd year student from a construction program, or current AMGT or CLMA graduate of a construction program who has the ability to work during the day/afternoon. 1st year students are encouraged to apply.

Primary Duties:
1. Support of the Dean in creating copies, filing, typing and other miscellaneous tasks
2. Office support (resources organization, cleaning, interdepartmental delivery)
3. Event Support for Open Houses (typically 2-7pm once per month), Orientation, and Construction Science and Building Technology (CSBT) Department and CSBT department events
4. Physical labor

Qualifications:
1. 3.0 GPA minimum
2. Software skills: MS Office (including MS Project)
3. Available to work Monday – Friday, and evenings of open houses
4. Excellent planning, organization and execution skills
5. Strong communicator with a willingness to initiate communications and follow up
6. Supportive attitude and approachable demeanor
7. Able to produce individual work in a collaborative work environment
8. Self-driven & Motivated

Student Services Assistant
Department: Student Services
Approximate Hours per Week: 15-17
Wage: $10/hour
Number of Openings: 1

Primary Duties:
• Making reminder phone calls to students as directed by supervisor
• Assist student services with event planning for the Moore Multicultural Center.
• Distribute and assign lockers to students with the support of the Locker Coordinator as well as assist in maintaining locker spreadsheet throughout the year
• Post and help create fliers for activities on campus or promotional offerings
• Work at open houses, orientations and student events as designated
• Assist in the planning and staffing of department functions
• Assist with general office duties

• Excellent communications skills and customer service skills with the ability to motivate others and encourage participation
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment
• Strong self-direction, motivation, and initiative
• High cultural competency and respect/sensitivity to all students, colleagues and visitors
• Computer skills, especially XCEL, Word and Power Point

Admissions Student Employee
Department: Admissions
Approximate Hours per Week: 15-17
Wage: $10/hour
Number of Openings: 1

Primary Duties:
1. Operate Switchboard
2. Check in and direct Admissions guests as well as other Dunwoody visitors
3. Contacting new students and prospective students for various projects and appointment verification
4. Clerical duties such as filing, copying and mailing projects

Qualifications:
1. Evening Availability
2. Good telephone and customer service skills
3. Experience working in Excel and Microsoft Word
4. Work Study Eligible

IT Helpdesk Support
Department: IT
Approximate Hours per Week: 17
Wage: $10.00
Number of Openings: 1

Primary Duties:
1. Maintain a record of all user requests in the helpdesk software as a tool to track calls and establish metrics. Responsible for closing helpdesk calls as they are completed.
2. Provide computer and network technical support to users via email, telephone, and in-person. Assist users with a variety of technical issues dealing with various platforms, operating systems, applications, etc.
3. Recommend hardware and software upgrades to ensure users have current and functional technology.
4. Provide a moderate amount of computer training to users in an effort to ensure an efficient and successful computing experience.
5. Setup, configure, and deploy computers and officially authorized software to users as a tool for performing their duties and responsibilities.
6. Respond to helpdesk calls within level-of-service guidelines and follow-up with users, as needed. Follow-up to include duplicating complex problems, if necessary, in the lab requiring elaborate setup and working with more senior members of the support or engineering staff to resolve complex issues. Alert manager to unusual problems or problem trends as they occur.
7. Perform maintenance tasks, including loading paper and toner, to printer fleet.
8. Under the direction of the IT management, performs duties according to their best judgment, requesting assistance when necessary.
9. The effect of an error by this position has a high impact on user productivity. The long-term effect could be the loss of user data and cause the user to miss deadlines.
10. Due to the broad variety of users’ duties and locations, this position requires access to areas where confidential data is stored, access to confidential user information such as user passwords, and high ethical standards.
11. Requires excellent verbal/written communication skills to efficiently resolve user requests and build effective client relationships.
12. Complete administrative reports and other duties as required.

Qualifications:
1. Current enrollment in a computer-related program, such as CNTS or CITP, or equivalent experience with computers required. The ideal candidate is in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of their program. Equivalent experience is defined as a minimum of 1 year of experience in technical support position.
2. Demonstrated proficiency in the maintenance and installation of personal computer hardware and software.
3. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs safely.
