Career Services Coordinator

POSITION OVERVIEW
Dunwoody College of Technology currently seeks a Full Time Career Services Coordinator. This position is designed as a hybrid position that provides services to students, graduates, and employers. The Career Services Coordinator advises students and graduates on career issues and strategies, job search methods, interviewing skills and appropriate interview follow-up techniques, resume preparation, and other related matters. This position will also assist the college in determining and driving career services strategies, support the Career Services Center in the development of new employer relationships while fostering and building upon existing relationships with employers of Dunwoody graduates to increase the number of jobs available to students. The Career Services Coordinator will plan and lead the Center’s efforts in achieving its placement goals.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Career Services Center.
- Actively coach graduates and students on career search strategies, personal development and marketing, interviewing skills, and résumé preparation through workshops, classroom presentations, and one-on-one meetings to ensure their preparedness to meet the challenges of securing and keeping meaningful employment.
- Provide available resources to students and graduates for their job search.
- Develop programmatic themes, market services of the Center to stakeholders and develop marketing materials as a way to promote the services of the Career Services Center.
- Develop and conduct special events, career/job fairs, seminars, and workshops, including job readiness workshops, for current students on employment outlook and industry trends, graduate successes, job opportunities and other relevant job search information to prepare them for their job search.
- Develop and maintain relationships with employers, coordinate job leads and student/graduate placement.
- Acquire and maintain accurate graduate contact information.
- Coordinate at least one contact per month, for a period of six months after graduation, with all unemployed graduates.
- Develop, track, document, and report employment statistics, graduate profiles, success stories, and employment progress to students, faculty, and staff on a quarterly basis to lend credibility to Dunwoody programs.
- Maintain written procedures in SHARE folder, recurring tasks/deadlines in Career Services calendar in Outlook, etc.
- Maintain an active lead generation and communication system to ensure sufficient job opportunities are available for students and graduates; typically 30 leads per week.
- Distribute, collect and summarize employer satisfaction surveys to evaluate the level of satisfaction of employers with newly hired Dunwoody graduates.
- Develop employment opportunities for graduates via industry networking, involvement in professional organizations, development of industry partnerships for the Center and school, direct mail campaigns and direct referral to employer base.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
- 3-5 years of demonstrated knowledge and experience in a career services advisor/coordinator position.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Previous project management experience.
- Autonomy and self-direction.

YCAP Summer Assistant
Dunwoody College of Technology currently has a need to hire 1 Youth Career Awareness Program Summer Assistant. The major objective of this position is to expose under-represented youth between the ages of 14 – 18 to life changing experiences and opportunities for personal and professional advancement through technical careers as part of Dunwoody’s Youth Career Awareness Program (YCAP). Mentor and prepare youth for College during the YCAP six-week summer session.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Mentor and prepare youth for College during the YCAP six-week summer session.
- Lead teach three YCAP groups in the area of study skills and college success
- Successful teaching or student teaching experience in Secondary and Post- Education.
- Excellent organizational, planning and leadership skills.
- Ability to work productively with persons from various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Exhibit knowledge of research and trends in teaching and learning styles
- Exhibit teaching and learning strategies to meet a wide range of student learning styles and abilities.
- Ability and willingness to provide leadership in social, personal and educational growth of students.
- Familiarity working with young people in association with outdoor activities i.e. rock climbing, canoeing, camping etc.
- Leader of food and beverage distribution of daily lunch, off site visits and field trip
- Photograph some student activates, program and off site visits
- Maintain a daily record of students’ attendance, tardiness, completed assignments and all other materials associated with the YCAP summer session.
- Maintain swift and seamless transition with students during program changes, site visits, lunch, outdoor activities etc.
- Deliver and modify daily lesson plans in a seamless manner.
- Other duties as assigned

- Three or more years of teaching experience with under-represented youth, ages 14 – 18 yrs.
- Successful experience working and communicating with a diverse population
- Strong content and subject-matter knowledge
- Ability to support and guide students
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organization, time-management and class room management skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook, and experience using them in a professional capacity
- Previous Youth Career Awareness Program knowledge.
- Preferred CPR and First Aide Certification.
- Valid driver’s license (no moving violations in the previous six months) and General navigational and driving knowledge of the Twin Cities Metro area.
- 21 years of age or older (must be age 21+ to drive rental vans).
- Schedule flexibility

ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Mentor and prepare youth for College during the YCAP six-week summer session.
- Mentor, advise and teach a group of Twin Cities and surrounding area YCAP students to enhance their personal and professional growth and exposure to technical careers.
- Ensure YCAP student daily attendance is taken and recorded properly in the data base.
- Ability to create and execute daily lesson plans related to high school math, language arts and reading.
- Assist in technical department visits i.e.…project completion, classroom management and student success.
- Monitor halls and lunch room during morning break, lunch and afternoon break.
- Participate and supervise summer student community service projects.
- Transport YCAP participants to coordinated site visits and field trips.
- Participate in outdoor activities with YCAP students (e.g. rock climbing, canoeing, hiking, camping, etc.).
- Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
