The Career
The basic responsibilities of a graduate in this field involve building,
connecting, and troubleshooting computers within corporate computer
networks. Computer Networking Systems professionals install and
configure computer hardware; install network software and operating
systems; and install and configure network servers. They help users with
computer operations and troubleshoot communication difficulties between
network devices. They also plan and prepare for future network expansion
and maintenance within an organization.
The Program
The Computer Networking Systems program introduces students to
basic and digital electronics theory and the practical application of
computer operations and maintenance. Courses covered include data
communications, client operating systems, networking technologies, and
basic programming. Students will also learn about information processing,
emerging technologies, and security issues. There is also a Dunwoody
Evening College option, covering similar materials, which leads to an
Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree or a Dunwoody Certificate.
Program Length
Graduates of this six-quarter program earn an Associate of Applied
Science (A.A.S.) degree.
