The Career
Dunwoody’s Automotive Technician Apprenticeship Cooperative (ATAC)
graduates enter the automotive repair industry as automotive service and
diagnostic technicians capable of using today’s high technology equipment
to diagnose and repair all aspects of today’s automobiles and light trucks
including mechanical, electrical, electronic and computerized systems.
The Program
ATAC is a full-time evening program (5 to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday) where
students learn how to use high tech equipment to diagnose and repair electronic and computer circuit problems along with engine performance, accessories and all
mechanical systems of the automobile. ATAC’s focus is hands-on applied learning in
automotive labs. Students in the second year will enhance their learning with 2-300
hour internships at approved automotive repair facilities. All Dunwoody Automotive
Service Technology Instructors are certified by the National Institute for Automotive
Service Excellence (ASE).
Program Length
With 74 credits, students graduate with a Dunwoody Diploma. Students may also
receive an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree by taking an additional 23
Arts and Science Credits.
